OTONIEL GIL

He is half Kogui, half Wiwa, two of the indigenous groups that still live in the Sierra Nevada. Oto is a birdwatching guide that fully enjoys his work; he is constantly reading and researching more about the bird species of the Sierra, specially the ones around San Lorenzo, where his family lives. He loves to contribute as a citizen scientist uploading his bird lists to eBird, because he understand the importance of collaborating in international conservation efforts. Besides, Oto participates actively with the community by conducting environmental worshops about birds with the Fly High Bird Club and independently. He also loves to spend time outdoors and also shares his passion for insects during his walks and tours where he can speak Wiwa, Kogui, Spanish and English!
